Among Us Cake Recipe

Among Us Cake

I have another great cake to add to my kids’ birthday collection today. Last year was my cousin’s daughter’s birthday, and I tried an Among Us cake for the very first time. They also bought a cake just in case something went wrong with mine.

However, the experience was really good. After that, at the request of my family and friends, I made this cake 2 or 3 more times. Since this cake is so successful, why not share the recipe with you?

Why Is This Cake So Popular?

The game Among Us is globally famous. Children and people of all ages play this game. Cake is popular because it resembles a game, especially at children’s parties.

Regular cakes are quite normal, but this cake is something different, which is why it especially attracts people at parties.

Today, social media is quite significant for making something famous. Because of its unique design, anyone who makes this cake indeed posts it on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. If you look at social media, especially TikTok, many videos are available about it.

And it’s not just that; some professional bakers have created this cake inspired by the game. In other words, if you also put effort into this cake, people will surely like it.

Among Us Cake Ingredients

For CakeFor Butter IcingFor Decoration
300g softened butter150g softened butter500g red fondant icing (for the crewmate’s body)
300g golden caster sugar2-3 Tbsp milk75g white fondant icing (for details like the visor)
6 eggs300g icing sugarBlack & blue food coloring (for more information)
300g self-raising flour1 tsp vanilla extract
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
2 Tbsp milk

Step-By-Step Process to Make an Among Us Cake

1. Bake the Cake

  • The next step demands oven preheating at 180°C or 350°F. Prepare the oven heat to moderate temperature at 350 degrees Fahrenheit before greasing a 30 cm x 20 cm cake tin and applying the lining.
  • A large-capacity mixing bowl should combine the softened butter with golden caster sugar. Whisk it and make a light fluffy texture.
  • Put the eggs in two at a time, and remember to whisk after each addition. Stir in the bowl’s self-raising flour, vanilla extract, and milk.
  • Transfer this batter to the prepared cake tin and level the surface. Bake at 180 degrees for approximately 35 minutes or until golden and firm to the touch.
  • After baking it, transfer it to a wire rack to cool to room temperature.

2. Shape the Cake

After cooling, place a small plate on the cake and cut around it to make a rounded top for your crewmate’s shape. Cut two legs from the cake’s base to get to the crewmate’s feet. Use any leftover cake scraps to create a rectangular piece for the bag on one side.

3. Prepare Buttercream Icing

Beat the softened butter until it is fluffy in a bowl. Then add the icing sugar and mix to combine these ingredients.

Next, add the vanilla extract and milk, & mix until you get the consistency needed for the cake. The cream icing should be relatively easy and soft enough because it won’t be suitable for decoration.

4. Ice the Cake

With the help of a palette knife, spread buttercream over the top and the sides of your shaped cake. It should be smooth. This iced cake should cool in the refrigerator for approximately 30 minutes until it sets firmly.

5. Cover with Fondant

Center and shape 500g red fondant icing to a sheet large enough to cover the entire cake surface. Cover the chilled cake with the fondant, using a sudden sweeping motion to push out the trapped air beneath the fondant. Avoid pulling the fondant over, as this will cause it to stretch.

6. Add More Details

To produce the visor and other decorations, make some 75g white fondant icing into shapes for the visor and other decorations. For additional design for your crewmate, you should continue with the black and blue food colors.

7. Final Touches

I must mention one thing here: this also happened to me. When I made a cake for the first time, its texture was slightly off because I didn’t cool it down before serving.

For the next cake, I let it cool down before serving, and the texture was perfect. So, I recommend constantly cooling the cake down before serving.

Among Us Cake Common Issues & Their Solutions

The first time we try, even if we focus entirely, sometimes we make mistakes at some point. But don’t worry; there is always a solution or alternative.

When Buttercream Goes Soft

Buttercream can be your best friend or worst enemy. When it becomes too rigid or soft, don’t panic. A quick 15-minute refrigeration or precise incorporation of powdered sugar can bring back its perfect texture.

Piping Precision: Character Creation Techniques

Creating an Among Us character takes patience, very stable hands, and a lot of creativity. Chill the buttercream to be slightly stiffer for piping; use a toothpick to outline, and practice on parchment paper. Your piping bag is your piece of artistry subversion.

Emergency Salvage: How to Transform Your Mistakes into Art

  • Keep an emergency kit handy:
  • Extra buttercream
  • Offset spatula
  • Bench scraper
  • Toothpicks

Additional piping tips

Layered Shield

Thin and thick cake layers make your beautifully decorated cake look like a disaster. It would help if you used a cake leveler, ensured that your cakes were completely cool, and used parchment paper to avoid cakes sticking to them.

Can We Store Among Us Cake?

Yes, you can store an Among Us cake.

  • Room Temperature

If the cake is frosted and coated with buttercream and fondant, it can be at room temperature for 2-3 days in a sealed container. Storing it in a cool and dry place sensitive to light is preferable.

  • Refrigeration

Storage at normal room temperature works fine for most cakes and keeping them in the refrigerator permits longer storage. Storing snacks in an airtight container at proper conditions extends their lifespan to a maximum period of one week.

This dish should be served warm, though it is best to leave it at room temperature for 30 minutes before serving it.

  • Freezing

The cake can be frozen if kept for an extended length of time. The continued storage of cake needs an airtight container or plastic and aluminium foil for protection. Freezing this cake leads to its preservation until the subsequent 3 months.

Royal blueberry cake should be refrigerated after baking and decoration, and when desired, the cake must be placed in a refrigerator to thaw before serving.

Final Words

Making an Among Us cake is another option to bake, and it is fun if you are into games that are played nowadays. Multiple steps are involved in creating this edible art project: shaping the cake dough, adding modeling chocolate, and adding details to the game’s characters.

If you only like the game or love to do some creative way to make fun and exciting sweet treats, these cake balls are perfect for bringing the Among Us universe to life. Moreover, wearing hats and masks that complete the appearance of the characters makes the entire project all the more entertaining.
